Hey fellas, I'm looking to get some spinners for my 20yr old nephew. It's been so long since I spinfished for trout, 1/4 or 1/8 Oz? He's primarily goung to fish streams like Martins Creek, Brodhead, both Bushkills & Minsi might get a kit of each size since he also fishes the mid-Delaware a lot near my dad's (Martins Creek area.) Just looking for some advice from the spinner aficianados.

The spinners I was goung to order are a company called RoxStar and I just like the looks & construction of them and they have a deal going. And I'm curious about them.

Not familiar with those spinners. I looked them up and they look like Joe’s Flies. The absolute smallest spinners I recommend are 1/8 oz. Lighter spinners don’t get deep enough and I never use split shot or swivels when using lures of any kind. 1/4 oz. are good for larger streams or higher flows.

Thanks, other than the fly attached to me they're different than Joe's because the hardware looks more significant. IMO, the hardware on Joe's Flies is too dang light and thin. I never felt liked they would spin well (also why I never liked the smaller Rooster Tails except for the sonic blade types.) These RoxStar spinners remind me more of Blue Fox spinners but with a fly attached. We'll see, I'm honestly very curious about them because I think they would do well on rivers like the Delaware & Lehigh and some of the lakes.

The blades do look more like Blue Fox. I haven’t used Joe’s Flies for a long time for the reasons you mentioned: they were flimsy and too light.

All the spinners I use now have bare hooks.

Could be worth a try for your nephew.
