My wife wood burns.She applies any finish after burning.She also draws the design on paper then tapes carbon copy paper to it and traces the design.

 

I wanted to get a semiauto rifle or two for each family member while it is still possible to do so. Having young daughters I was afraid if I waited we might miss the boat so all of my children have their own now and when old enough to make some decisions they can choose what they want to do with them to personalize and accessorize them.

My middle daughter "critter" had made some decisions that really surprised me. I got her a npap and told her we could burn it and she could put anything she wanted on it. Being only 7 I figured scooby doo would top the list. To my surprise she chose to do "cool" (her words) stuff to it. We fly the Gadsden flag high here so that was in the mix. Plus she loves snakes. The rifle was purchased with fur money and her favorite thing to trap is bobcats. After surfing the net we found the helmet, poison ivy, barbwire and malon labe.

I gave her the finished product this morning and she's tickled pink. I might post picks of her with it a little later......

 

Stain after burning. The white on the bobcat is just lack of stain allowing the bare stock to show. After compete used tru oil finish.

Thats awesome renny! Youre quite the artist!! Did you sketch that out somehow before burning or did you just figure it out as you went?

 

Perhaps you missed my post that told you how to do it.Perhaps not.Anyhow you use carbon copy/transfer paper.

 

My kid justi picked out some pics that we had taken and did some searches on the net for others. A friend of mine did the artwork freehand with a 30 dollar wood burner I picked up for him from a craft store. I wish I had those skills!

WOW,,, That looks so life like,, amazing work...I wish i could do that.. I really dont like carvings on gunstocks, BUT, those look Fantastic..
