What do you guys use to clean your old gun stocks. Pretty sure the old Winchester, mine was made in 1959, used a spar varnish finish. Not really looking to refinish just a cleaning and something to protect the wood. I know the newer oil finished stocks can take a new coat of true oil or a stock wax. But don't want to hurt the finish on my older gun

Howards Restore-a-Finish. Walnut color. Wipe it on with a T shirt rag. Let sit for 5 minutes. Buff off excess. Done.
It looks great and scratches and dings blend right in. About $5. a can at Lowes or antique stores.
