I've seen these knife sharpeners advertised a few times and was wondering if anyone has one or knows if they work as advertised? I have a lansky kit now and it works fine, but I'm always interested in new things.

Yes, they work.

Was one of my best of show picks about two years ago. Guy handed his pocket knife to the guy to sharpen. Frankly, I've seen I-beams sharper.

Five minutes late - if that, the thing was shaving hair.

Basically a Lansky on Roids. The stones have a ball on the end and you alternate stones in the same exact arc over the blade. Very fast, as once one stone passes - the other is on the way. Of course, the same accuracy in the degree the blade passes over the knife - left or right stone - first or 1000th pass.

Does the job for sure. But If I recall the price was over $200.

I saw them at the Harrisburg show a few years back and how it is designed makes sense for fast sharpening. What I liked about it was that they actually have leather that you can fisnish that blade off with and make it broadhead sharp. I just can't justify paying out that money for a sharpener, no matter how easy it makes it.

On another note, I did purchase the KME sharpening system this year and am impressed with it.

I'll let you use it Pete! BigPoppa, can you tell me more about the KME? I've never heard of it before.
The KME is very similiar to the Lansky but the nice thing is the clamp that holds the knife and be flipped over to sharpen the other side. That way you don't have to take it out of the clamp and then have to readjust the angle of the stone. Very easy to use. Here is the website to check out.
