Has anyone ever soaked venison in buttermilk? I had an old timer tell me it will tenderize it. I am gonna attempt cook my first venison roast later this week, prob. in the crock pot. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Double

Stuff with cut garlic cloves. Season with salt and pepper. Slice up some onions, carrots, and potatoes and cover roast. Pour in 1 can of Coke Cola and let slow cook for approx 5-6 hours...enjoy..

Not venison but beef round, and an Elk roast last year. The acid in the buttermilk breaks down the tissue. Marinate 1 to 2 days. It was very good. Throw away the buttermilk used for marinade, but if you have left over fresh, use it to thicken the gravy. Very good! Good luck!
