With being able to do it online I wonder if that many people really still are not reporting or if that correction factor is going to be wildly off and mess up future tag allocations. A butcher I used in Ohio once actually required the confirmation number on their intake form so you had to call it in before you could even drop off the deer, might not be a bad idea for more places to implement something like that.
NJ uses a confirmation number when you report your harvest. I know for a fact that butchers in Pa and NJ WILL NOT accept a deer for processing without a NJ tag/confirmation number. Pa should require a confirmation number - it's assigned once you report your deer. Hunters that process their own deer may not report their kill. Thanks

Hey y'all. In NC butchers require a confirmation/harvest number when dropping off. They just write down your information in a log, no extra work. Reporting harvest is very easy online, with or without cell service. Or you can call 800-I-GOT-ONE. (how cool is that)!!! Also, you can view updated harvest reports online. As of 12/11/24 3,244 Bears and 138,668 deer were reported.

I usually report mine... Sometimes I forget.

Not that there's any way to find this number, but I'd be curious to see what the reporting rate is among guys that butcher their own, compared to the guys that take theirs to butcher shops.
