Removing Paint

I have an old Mossberg 500 that used to be my turkey gun many moons ago. There are many layers of camo paint on the barrel and receiver. What would you recommend to remove the paint that wouldn't harm the gun?

I did a Mossberg barrel with 0000 steelwool and it did a great job.
