Just because big old bucks are fun to look at...

Firearm Typical:
1) Fritz Janowsky 1943 = 189-0 (I had a better pic of this buck but lost it )

i always admired this buck, the mount used to be at the Erie Sports store, maybe it still is. i believe it was remounted. if i remember the story right it was shot in the "Jumbo Woods" SGL near Albion, PA in Erie County.

amazing feat, amazing deer.

Really cool to see them lined up like that, great post, thanks!

Kinda puts the poo poo on the Pa doesn't have the genetics, doesn't it?

Another thing came to mind comparing the pics: remember in another thread where I said judging pics was just guessing? Well, if you had asked the members to score these bucks by these pics, they would have never stacked up in the correct order, not even close.

If I remember correctly you shared some nice photos of you in front of your shoulder and European mounts on a barn and I would be happy to harvest any of them. In my honest opinion if you can kill a 4.5 YO regardless of antler size in Pennsylvania on a relatively consistent basis you are doing very well. Deer over 150" are very hard to find here.

Great thread TBrom. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Probably not back in those days. They didn't care much about antlers. The Janowsky buck was originally listed from NY or by a NY hunter, but I spoke with Fritz's brother and he said back in those days they didn't have a post office and their mail went to NY which was right across the state line. He said the correction was eventually made.

I remember the Ivan Parry buck from Greene as it was in the front window of Joe Riggs Sporting goods in Waynesburg. Probably still is? Been a while since I have been past it.

I think it was the #1 for a while until the Fritz buck was found.

It is still there in the front window. I travel through there for work and sometimes I get stopped beside it occasionally and always take a good look.

Great Post! Love seeing all these pics of these great bucks! At one time I was actually #16 in the archery non typical category, but through the years I've dropped to around 40th. LOL

Reibson did track his buck in the snow.
There was a picture of him with that buck and another that he had harvested that was just as big.
Not sure what happened to the other rack.

Floyd gave the other one away to friends from NY. It was mounted. The PGC tried to track it down but no luck.

The number 16 gun kill was taken near where I grew up by my neighbors brother Lewis Black. It was 1979 and I remember Lewis saw the buck cross the road and was able to get on his tracks in the snow and shot the buck hours later. I tried to find a picture of the buck but no luck
