I have yet to receive my license. Same thing happened 2 years in a row. I had to go to PGC headquarters for them to print it off for me. Not sure how they keep screwing this up.
I bought the 2nd round on line and I received it this week. I bought the first one across the counter from a local agent.

Now I need to clarify my post, the license issuing center in Kansas or wherever are the ones who screwed the pooch and the PGC took over and we had the license 2 days later so it is an issuing problem. Maybe they should consider a Pa company.

Did you happen to have Biden/Harris, Harris/Walz sign in your front yard?

Asking for a friend.

Every tag I bought except this last round is in hand.,

I try to mostly buy in person. I bought 2nd round doe online this year due to work schedule. I was sent an email from pgc when they shipped a week affer purchase and they showed up about a week later.

I've purchased multiple licenses in multiple states over multiple years online. Never a problem. Always do the harvest reporting online as well. Way more efficient than any other method in my opinion.

Purchased my license this year the 2nd day they went on sale June 24th My order was processed July 2nd And was to be received no later than 15 days (july 17th) I called on July 28th to see if there was an issue The lady was very nice and professional She authorized a reprint while I was on the phone Got license in the mail on aug 1st I’ll go in person from now on

Negative. No trash permitted in my front yard. Guess I just have bad luck. I bet I get my 3rd round doe tag in the mail and not the initial license. Happened before.

Funny how that works....

I have waited over 3 weeks since it said it shipped. Nothing...
Last year, it was supposedly sent out on week 2. On week 8 or 9, it never showed up. So I call them, they reissue the licenses and the license shows up in the mail next week.

Anytime you are hunting, I have a phone with me. In it, I have a receipt and the hunting license online. You really don't need a physical license, unless you tagging deer and such. I butcher my own, so I don't really need a physical license. But I report the harvest online.

You may want to double check the regulations just to confirm. Last that I knew, the carcass had to be tagged before moving and must remain tagged until processed for consumption regardless. So, if you are shooting deer, reporting the harvest online, not physically tagging it, and then taking it home to cut up... technically they could still pinch you for not having a physical tag in the ear.

Unless something has changed that I am unaware of.

It's probably the local USPS. Mail to my office, I have about a 25% chance it's gonna get lost. Which is just lovely, but also gives me a good excuse I suppose. It's not so lovely when you're waiting on a big check as I have been for over a week.
I had a check show up a MONTH later. Only had to go 1/2 way across PA!

You definately need a physical tag in the deers ear. No exceptions for self butchering, landowner or any other excuse. By your logic whats to prevent you from killing more than 1 deer with same tag. Some bad info given by poster.

..no need to send for them !! Unless your severely handicapped there's a license it seems not far from anyone in this state... I don't during the rush but what til August when you walk in, no one at the counter and walk out license in hand in a couple of minutes...just no need to mail them unless there's a real reason to need to do so..

Bought my Senior combo and a 1-B doe tag online this year for the first time. Had it in hand in 10 days....

While I am sure that it would have to be settled in court and cause a lot of grief in the meantime, if I paid for a license and it did not arrive in my possession prior to the hunting season within the time-frame advertised by the vendor, I would hunt with the proof of purchase and fill out a hand written tag that contains all of the information a tag normally has on it.
Whatever vendor the GC uses as their online agent has a responsibility to fulfill their duty as part of the purchase. They took your money and did not provide the product. There is an expectation of service within a reasonable amount of time since the vendor gives a specific timeline as to when the license will be received after purchase. Since they are representing the GC as an issuing agent, then both parties are at fault for not providing a service and item that was bought and paid for. You and the vendor enter into a contract. You fulfilled your end by the purchase, they must fulfill their end by seeing that it gets to you.
Lost in the mail doesn't cut it for an excuse in court, and if it does, then my fine payment must have gotten lost in the mail too.
I would not stay at home during a season because some vendor didn't fulfill their end of the contract. If a specific tag is needed, then it is the vendors responsibility to get it to you. All that could be eliminated if upon purchase, the buyer can print the licenses out. Many other states allow that option.
But....
That potential headache is why I don't buy my license online and do buy my license at an issuing agent in person.

Thanks for this. I was pretty sure nothing had changed and that is exactly how I remember it being the last time that I looked into it.

You don’t just need a valid license / tag if you kill a deer, you need both if you plan on hunting deer. You can’t go out and sit in a treestand , with a gun or bow, in deer season without having a valid tag should you kill a deer.

I purchased some DMAPs and Antlerless tags online this year. The tags showed on my digital license a few minutes later.

There is enough info on the digital license to make an ear tag if needed.

That's precisely what he said...
Not exactly...

"You really don't need a physical license, unless you tagging deer and such. I butcher my own, so I don't really need a physical license. But I report the harvest online."

This is easily interpreted as:
"you only need a physical license if you are tagging deer" - no argument there.
He butchers his own so he doesn't need a physical license. Since a physical license is only needed if you are tagging deer, and he doesn't need a physical license because he butchers himself, then he doesn't need a physical license because he doesn't need to tag them because he butchers them himself - which is not the case at all unless he is cutting it up and packaging for consumption where it falls. But even then I wouldn't be surprised to see GC/DCNR argue that the carcass must be moved in order to butcher the deer in the field, therefore the carcass must be tagged.
