I try a new mouth call every year. Sometimes 2, and I constantly go back to the same call. Maybe its due to break in or not needing much air.

Aggressive calls (unsure of model) local PA manufacturer.
I tried a woodhaven red wasp this yr and dont like it at all. Someone gave me a 737 call and it could be my next fav. Low air needed, just need some break in time.

A lot of mouth calls do not sound good until the latex gets worn a bit. I have some mouth calls that sound better after a couple of years use. For a beginner I would recommend a single reed call. It will be higher pitched and not raspy but it will be easier to use than your double or triple reeds.

Give Denny Gulvas a call and order several Doubles and Master's Choice. His calls run differently than others, they require much, much less air. IMO split reed calls don't sound natural, Denny's calls in the right hands sound exactly like turkeys. They take time to learn but it's worth it.
