One of the turtles I caught recently seems to have some type of skin infection. The skin on his legs is coming off. When I changed the water today I found 3 freshwater leaches in the bottom of the bin, could these have caused this? If not does anybody have any idea what could be wrong with this turtle? And would the meat be ok? This is my first year catching turtles, it’s fun and there tasty, any info would be beneficial. Thanks

With out a pic it's hard to tell. I don't think I have ever caught a turtle that didn't have leeches. Really if there is any question I wouldn't eat it. Go catch another they are plentiful.

Get it out of the water and put it in some damp straw for a couple days. When they are in water too much they get white patches on thier skin and shell.

Did you have it in the sun at all? I would bet being in the hot sun could make a turtles skin come off.
