Ok. My son bought an inline tonight. I have a flintlock so I know that cleaning is important. The question I have is say we are at camp for the weekend. He shoots the inline on Saturday morning, misses and reloads. Do we need to clean it Saturday night or can we hunt with it Sunday and then clean Sunday night? With the flintlock, I was never worried since at home I would just shoot out and clean that night. Little easier to do at home than it is at camp. How long can you let it go before cleaning. He bought a CVA Wolf with a SS barrel.

I would clean it after shooting. They are pretty easy to clean. Just run a brush through it, about 7-10 Thompson Center wet patches, and make sure the breech plug is clean. It only takes about 20 minutes.
Don't know brand you have but I learned the hard way to make really sure your trigger/ firing pin areas are really clean. I have a CVA optima elite. It has an enclosed firing pin/ trigger area with no access other than blindly spraying solvents in the general area and hoping you get all the hunk out. While working up a load last month mine got yo the point where the hammer wouldn't stay cocked and firing pin wasn't strong enough to set off primer. The company provided no help other than telling me to clean it which I was doing. So clean that area as best you can.
If you shoot Blackhorn 209, no need to clean nearly as often. I usually need it after 15-20 shots because about then either it gets hard to load or groups start opening up. Couple of wet patches of Hoppes, followed by several dry patches, and ready to go again. Every-other time I pull the breach plug and clean that.
