Buckle Strap or Velcro Strap Release?

Still shopping releases and there seems to be quite a difference of opinion when it comes to the buckle strap vs. velcro strap around the wrist. I wear gloves on the stand, and I'm wondering which style is easier to manuever with gloves on....? From what I've read people are complaining about the noise of velcro when drawing the bow.

Definitely a buckle strap---for the reason you mentioned above. I don't wear gloves when I'm archery hunting. I have a muffler I wear around the waist with some hand warmers in it. I just don't get the same feel of the bow with gloves on.

Each is as good as the other. Got them both on the same release. The velcro has worn out for the most part. But that's shooting nearly every other day for 10 years. Little easier to strap on, unless you get stuck on those gloves... never had the noise problem. Always draw back a few times once up my tree. Is the noise that loud, or is it just more noticeable because it is right at your ear??? I think if a deer is close enough to hear that, he should be dead already!!!

I've always uused velcro.I put my release on before I eneter the woods and take it off when I'm done hunting.I've never noticed any noise while drawing my bow.I suppose a buckle would work just fine, just never used one and I don't feel handicapped using velcro.

Buckle. The strap will always be strapped consistently as long as you use the same notch. Not sure if a change in tightness or being strapped at the same spot has any affect on accuracy, but that's my reasoning behind why I chose a buckle over velcro.Maybe it's just me being overly picky and this makes no sense.

I prefer the buckle....less noise when putting it on or if you have to readjust in the stand, though if you put on before you hit the woods, probably not a big deal. I've heard of velco wearing out, w/ a buckle it ain't going to happen.

I always used a velcro release until last year but will always use a buckle going forward. Buckle releases do not make noise when putting on or taking off, do not make noise when drawing your bow, and will not come off your wrist while you are at full draw!

I've always used velcro. I try to keep it on, especially later in the year. It's certainly loud putting on, on a quiet day. I use a sweat band under it for better fit but it gets hot. I was thinking about trying a buckle.

Went with the Scott Shark Buckle release. Never used a caliper release before so we'll see how it goes. For the past 19 years I used a Cabelas Trophy Hunter. Got sick of it wearing out my serving and I've read that it's 'slow'. So I guess I'm about to see what a 'fast' release feels like! Thanks everyone for your suggestions/recommendations.

....never had an issue with velcro.
....can't fine tune a buckle strap on your wrist...all set measurements for holes.
....try them all and get what feels best...
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY !

Was interested in seeing the comments as I've used velcro for nearly 20 years.
There's advantages and disadvantages to both I guess. Depends how good you become with using what you use. I know exactly how tight I want the velcro from using the strap over and over. It's like putting on an old pair of gloves. As long as the gloves are good enough to wear, you get use to their "intricacies".

Personally, I'd have no problem with buckle straps. Only that I'm already "home grown" on velcro. And glad both are offered, since both seem to work.

No gloves for me either. I wear a muffler also. I went to a hand held thumb trigger several years ago and won't be going back! I like hanging my release from my d loop and just letting it there. No more buckle/velcro straps for me.

I've had a velcro release for the past 10 years, and it is definitely worn out. And it's loud if you need to adjust it on a still day.

I suppose if you replaced them more often then wearing out would not be an issue. I use a climber stand, so putting it on and having it jam against my wrist isn't fun, and I've put it on and found out 30 minutes later it felt tight or loose and had to adjust it. Maybe putting a mark on it with a Sharpie or paint might correct the adjustment problem.

Got a new rig this year, picking it up tomorrow, including a Scott Mongoose with a buckle. Felt great in the shop. I'll have both now, so I can switch back if I want.

Didn't like the new Cobras with the bigger, thicker wristband. Looks like it would soak up a lot of sweat and stink.
