I've had a velcro release for the past 10 years, and it is definitely worn out. And it's loud if you need to adjust it on a still day.
I suppose if you replaced them more often then wearing out would not be an issue. I use a climber stand, so putting it on and having it jam against my wrist isn't fun, and I've put it on and found out 30 minutes later it felt tight or loose and had to adjust it. Maybe putting a mark on it with a Sharpie or paint might correct the adjustment problem.
Got a new rig this year, picking it up tomorrow, including a Scott Mongoose with a buckle. Felt great in the shop. I'll have both now, so I can switch back if I want.
Didn't like the new Cobras with the bigger, thicker wristband. Looks like it would soak up a lot of sweat and stink.
