Well after a lot of thinking my buddy and I got a dozen of the new avian x decoys. I have to say, after seeing them in person they are the real deal.

DSDs require that their heads be permanently attached using pvc pipe dope as well and they are considered a "cream of the crop" decoy. So I dont see it as weird. My TF FBs I got from Dunn's have a few with very loose fitting heads. A little pvc pipe dope and no more loose heads. Those deeks were $89/6...outshootme1 said:HighFlyer,
Wonder why they didn't have the answer on how to fix that when I was looking at them? If they had an answer I might have purchased a dozen. Other than the cord, having to use PVC to put the heads on is kind of weird also. They do look like a good decoy, just seems more time was spent on the feather, body, color details that the little things were missed. Hope they work well for you this season.
Rick Macfarlane said:I want to thank High Flyer0329 for clearing up some bad information on the AVIAN x goose decoy. I was at the waterfowl classic at Cabela’s in Hamburg and handled the sales numbers for the event. I’m happy to say that I was very happy with the decoy sales. We had good numbers of decoys on hand and sold out of the (AXF) flocked goose decoys on Sunday morning. Do to the limited space on the sales floor Cabela’s was giving the customer a slip to pick up your decoys at the back loading dock. You paid for your decoys at the register and drove around back and the employee loaded them for you.
I had the opportunity to test these decoys first hand at the end of the season last year, I personally tested these decoys hunting and by staying back and watching the reaction of geese to the avian x prototype decoys and other brands in the same field. There is a lot of time filming and charting to develop a good decoy.
Let’s start with the head of the avian x goose decoys, The head is made out of a soft, pliable material that is a one piece ( no seam) system so you don’t get broken seams or broken head conections. When you connect the head to the body with pvc glue you mend the head to the body to make a one piece decoy.
The body of the decoy is molded with a dark brown and tan pliable material so if you chip , gouge , or scrape the paint or flocking off the decoy ,you won’t have a white spotted goose decoy like a lot of the other decoys on the market. The dark brown attracts heat to help get rid of the frost or dew that all decoys attract. If a decoy company tells you that their decoy does not hold dew or frost they are lying to you, all decoys hold dew and frost even the avian x. That’s why we use a dark molding material.
The body is pliable in the coldest tempatures do to the material that it is molded out of. This stops cracking and paint peeling when most other decoys will be brittle from the material that they are made of.
The Elastic band that hold’s the decoy to the foot base IS REPLACEABLE. The elastic cord is not molded into the decoy. If you need to replace the elastic cord , call the shop and one will be sent out to you. All you have to do to replace the cord is tie it in a not and insert it back into the same hole the old cord came out of. You can tighten the elastic cord to control the movement of the decoy or loosen it all the way to get more movement.
The ring base is 11 ½ inches around at the base and stronger to give you more ground contact . The ring base is painted tan because black attracts heat and when we are hunting the edge of the ice we had problems with the black ring bases melting circles in the ice and when we was done hunting at dark the black ring bases was frozen in the ice.
The AVIAN X decoy line is a new product and I’m not saying its perfect or you have to have it to kill geese. There is a lot of good decoys on the market for different situations. I am not a company basher or a person that won’t talk to other vendors. I am a hunter, outdoors man and a person that dedicates a lot of time helping other hunters, wounded warriors and kids in the outdoor industry.
I pointed out why we made the decoy the way we did , it is up to you to make a decision on what you use that’s why we live in the us.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, If you have any questions please feel free to send me a PM.
OOOOH where did you get them at? I like sleepers.SuperFluke said:Glad to hear so many people were buying Bigfoots. That'll make the geese easier to kill for us... Haha.
We picked up 2 dozen FFD sleepers... You can't beat $160 a dozen on them.
Cabelas had the life-size and oversize FFD shells on sale for $160 last weekend. Unless they re-stocked for Saturday and Sunday, we got the last two boxes of them on Friday night. I'm surprised no one on here mentioned it because it was the best sale they had going.Buk_Huntir said:OOOOH where did you get them at?
