I had to put a screen at my hunting stand and thought I might shoot threw the screen as I wont have time to cut out area.....or I might cut openings just curious.

If so what was the results?

Thanks

If your fletchings are wider than the broadhead and the vanes aren't aligned with the blades, would that not be like hitting fresh screen with dull, flexible plastic? I'd think the fletchings could "catch" and alter the course. I've never been comfortable with it.

My dad's buddy did shoot through the mesh with a 30-06. The muzzle blast made an enormous hole with melted edges. :D

Fixed sharp blades were ok. Mechanical were a no go. I still never did it on game as I felt like on species like deer, the extra noise from the arrow going through the mesh may make it more likely for deer to duck. To my ears, it was a difference.

I'd suggest you try it first. I tried some on a ground blind and I'd never attempt a shot at a deer. POA vs POI were not even close. Muzzy broadheads.

Interesting. Before I attempted it I bought a huge piece of camo netting from Walmart and attached it to a frame, loosely like it would be in a soft blind window. Taut, but not tight. Tight would be even better.
With every fixed head I tried it was as if the material wasn’t even there out to 50 yards.
Nice clean holes that showed no signs of stretching.

My kids have shot several deer through the mesh with their crossbow. It really blocks the movement and getting rid of that big black hole definitely puts more deer at ease. They pay no attention to the blind with the screen up. The last few minutes of light I’ll drop the screen to see better, otherwise it stays up

If your bow is not tuned I'd assume you'd have poor results. If you're paper tuned perfectly right out of the bow I'd expect you won't even notice the mesh is there.
I shot it at several distance from right in front of my stabilizer to several feet in front of the bow.
I remind my kids on every hunt, "Remember if it happens fast, you can shoot right through that mesh."

I’ve done it. Over and over again. Not sure what else to tell you.
The broadhead makes hole, not just slits, and the fletchings are very flexible and compressible. Blazers.
Ever see slo motion video of a whisker biscuit in action? It’s a violent explosion of bristles that doesn’t affect the arrow at all.

I did use a whisker biscuit for years, so I do get that comparison.

My brother shot through the screen with fixed blade broad heads once, I don't remember the brand. He missed the deer by several feet. Last year the muzzle of my 300 savage ended up in the fabric of my ground blind but my scope was unostructed and I blew a pretty big hole in the blind and missed the deer. I can't blame the blind in either case but I can't say it didn't do something bad either. My rule of thumb from now on is to avoid shooting through the blinds at all costs just to eliminate the variable.

I wonder if the different results are because of the manufacturer of the mesh? Or perhaps it's the brand of arrow\bolt that is used?

Because the arrow is (usually) so close to the mesh, if the arrow has more initial "flex" in it when it meets the mesh, perhaps that throws it off more?

Or perhaps a heavier mesh in some brands vs the others?

Kids move. Alot.
Those screens seem to make deer just walk right on by instead of staring into the soul of the blind looking for movement in those black holes.
When that big buck suddenly appears at 10 steps with the screen up, I'm glad I've tested it for myself. I was not expecting the zero effect that I got.
"You can shoot right through that screen. Squeeze and make a good shot."

Now don't try it with a shotgun. My buddy squeezed the trigger on a big gobbler at 5 steps one rainy morning with a 3.5" load of #9 Tungsten. He blew a massive hole in my blind and missed the bird. He actually tried blaming it on the blind. His line of sight was clear of the fabric......his barrel was not.
That would have been his Triple Trophy bird. He was all kinds of upset. Rain stopped and we moved. 30 minutes later I called in 7 gobblers and he shot one at 30 yards. He said he likes them at 30 instead of 5. Blamed me again for his miss.
