Ladies & Gentlemen,
Thru the years I have been blessed with some great Grouse Dogs, and Daisy our Ryman/Reid Setter is one of the very best, her talent for setting Grouse for the our gunning
is more than just exceptional, her ability to walk Grouse to a set point, where they can be gunned, is simply amazing at times.

Daisy our Ryman Setter on point with another one of her incredible gifts, even in the dense fog.

Ladies & Gentlemen,
What you think is male appendage is the camera picking up part of a branch in the back ground, good grief. Yes that is Daisy in the picture, and she is a very special Grouse dog, no doubt about that, she is also not rearing, her one front foot is on the downed tree in front of her, and she is on 3 point at a Grouse which has jumped up into a small tree about 30 yards back in the forest.

I had my most memorable point a couple weeks ago in Potter Co. A walked up on Ruby, my WPG, on point looking to my left. She was in the classic 3 point stance, frozen and tail qwivering with excitement. I looked out in front of her for the bird. Not seeing one I told her to get the bird. She stayed frozen but slowly turned her head toward me with eyes like saucers gave me a look like "over there you idiot!" then she looked back at the bird. I looked about 25 feet out in front of her and see a grouse walking slowly away. I get my gun ready. It flushes straight away. I shoot twice and miss. That point made the whole trip worth while. I wish I had got the bird. She deserved it.

222Shooter,
Ya got to love a dog who can set Grouse for gunning like that, prize her! Everybody misses, there are no gimmie Grouse shots when the Grouse is flushed. Give Ruby a pat on the head for me, hope you fed her real well that night, she earned it big time. You must have been using a semi or a pump gun, God allows few Grouse to be taken with them!

He does tolerate stack BBl guns however, especially with a Ryman Setter.

My bad. A few of my buddies had setters I hunted behind over the years. I seem to remember they would hold their tails straight up when they were pointing. They were just run of the mill breeding. They weren't from that Rhyming bloodline or anything. Decent hunting dogs, though.

BH,

I think you may be referring to the Decoverly bloodline. They are second to NONE. They are what all others aspire to be.

Buckethead,
Daisy is a Ryman dog whos Sire and Dam were bred together by Bill Reid (GIE). The Sire was a Decoverly (SkyHawk) dog and the Dam was a Setters West dog, both exceptional Gun dogs. Hope this clears things up a might for ya.

GIE,
If I have misidentified, I made a mistake.

Buckethead,
Yes George passed away long ago, however his breedline still exists, at DeCoverly and other places also. In reality Old Hemlock (GBE) dogs, are Ryman dogs also.
