What area are you in?

 

I'm about 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh

 

Honestly I've been going to either Dunham's and sum local sporting good stores. Tall tales in Russel Pa is where my daughter got all her archery gear and clothes . They have a nice selection.

 

Thanks for the tip. I have been trying to do the same but I've found the selection for youth hunting gear few and far between. I think once he's in a little bigger gear it may be a little easier.

 

What sizes?

 

I'd say probably youth medium. It should give him a little room to layer and a little room to grow and hopefully get an extra year or two out of them. Youth small may just fit this year.

 

Yard sales and auctions have worked out pretty well for me so far. I always get a few sizes too big if I can. I'm okay with him swimming in it for a year if I means he'll get another year out of it.

 

I feel your pain. My 11 year old son is officially in the same size boot as me so he can wear my hand me downs for a year!
Honestly, network with some friends who have older kids. Most people don't even realize what they have stored away that might work for you. If you were closer I'd tell you to come pick through my clothing rack. I've had stuff given to my kids and I give it away when they grow out of it.

Doesn't have to be camo either. Lots of good Carhartt style jackets floating around that will get him by.

 

Sounds like you have an excuse to buy yourself some new boots! Networking is probably the best bet, besides stumbling across a great sale at a local sporting goods store. Out of my close friends, my son is the oldest so I have a feeling I will be the one doing a lot of the passing down, which I am perfectly fine with. If it helps get more kids into the outdoors I am all for it.
