There's a special kind of thrill that comes from getting off the beaten path. Maybe it's the perfect line on a bike trail, the quiet sound of a fishing line hitting the water, or the view from a remote campsite that took a tough hike to reach.

This thread is all about celebrating those places. Whether it's for off-roading, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, or something completely different, let's share the spots that make you feel alive.

What’s a location that brings you pure joy?

We understand the need to protect our wild places, so there’s no pressure to give up your secret coordinates. A story or a general description of a great spot is perfect. The goal is to share the spirit of adventure.

Remigny, Quebec.

Post office, school, church, general store, and a couple dozen houses. On the shore of the lake of the same name, it's actually created by a natural rock dam of the Ottawa river. Been going there for twenty years, hopefully go there for a few more. Where we stay we can take our dogs and our own boat, cabins are 50 feet from the dock. Peace, solitude, quiet, life just slows down when we are there. We are going the first week of October to celebrate my wife's retirement.

Our Dad used to take us there back in the early to mid 70's . I think Marcel DuLong was the owner of the camp we stayed in. We hauled a popup camper from Northwestern Pa. to sleep in. Great Northern Pike fishing and bears around all the time. I remember Marcel telling us to make sure we covered the ice in the icehouse back up with sawdust everytime we got ice. That was a Golden Rule back then . They'd cut huge blocks of ice out of the lake in the Winter, store it in an insulated shed, and keep it covered with sawdust to slow the melting. Marcel had twin daughters and one of them and I hit it off. It was hard to communicate because she could only speak and understand a little English and I knew no French whatsoever.Needless to say, when I started High School in the Fall, I switched my language course from Spanish to French !! I was prepared for the next Summer seeing Monique ! Lol !
