A buddy of mine showed me this little item and the next day I bought one. Now, I know a lot of guys don't have $200 to just "drop" but as I age I look for tools that can make my life easier.

This little saw cut through a 6" limb in no time. The battery last a very long time....and the place I bought it from said Sthil had a "special" and they threw in a second battery for free.

It's just too easy to bring along. No gas\oil mix. No bar chain oil to fill. It has a small chain oil applicator that you use when the chain get's a bit dry.

And it cuts through branches\brush like nobody's business!!

I have a 20V 8” pruning hand chainsaw like this from Dewalt and agree it’s a really useful saw to have and very convenient to carry. It’s so fast and easy to use, you just have be careful that whatever hand you hold it in, you know where your other hand is at all times or you’ll be changing your screen name to “Stubby”!

You know what is interesting is the dog/bird hunters seems to be immune from this rule. On a local game lands they cut and maintain trails to get through the heavy cover, through thick hedge rows, and wherever else.
Just seems to be the norm with that sector.

But if I sit down and snip a few branches to create a clear shooting lane, I'm technically doing something illegal.
I had a spot on Gamelands one time where I set up a ground blind to watch a thick creek bottom that was tore up with buck sign. Crawl through type of cover and getting in a tree would have made shooting opportunities even worse.
I took along a roll of sisal twine and tied the branches back in a "V" for shooting lanes. That sisal would deteriorate and release the branches within a year.

I use an 80V Kobalt 18” chainsaw for bigger jobs. I like the battery operated saws and trimmers so much I gave my gas-powered hand tools away.

Fine if you can reach the branch. It has its uses. We generally like keeping as much cover as possible. The old fashioned 20’ pole pruner with saw makes short work out of the branch tips that need a trim. Rare that we whack an entire limb but the saw makes short work of that.

I have one of those on my short list of things to acquire for property maintenance.

I've been using a gas powered Stihl Kombi for several years. The hedge trimmer is quite effective, but the string trimmer/brush cutter attachment with an Oregon blade on it makes fast work of anything under about 2" in diameter and makes it into little bits that don't have to be dragged away.

Stihl makes good stuff.

I have this one below. They now make an 80v version too . With my reach can probably do 12-15 feet. I’ve cut throug some 12” oak branches with it cutting it at a couple different angles.
For trimming and small trees almost better than a chainsaw. Highly recommend for tree stand and yard pruning.

That little Stihl is worth its weight in gold. I never take it out of my SxS. As stated keep it lubed and it won disappoint. It's definitely been tested and passed in the "I shouldn't be using this for this" category.

I just bought a cheap version on Amazon for $29 that uses Dewalt 20V batteries. Works surprisingly well. Battery life with the 20V isnt the best but more than enough to open a few shooting lanes and clear access trails.

Just yesterday I took 20 minutes and cleared out a shooting lane with it. :ROFLMAO: :applause: :applause: Then I went fishing.....Ask and I'll post the pic of all the 20+" I caught.

Neat lil tool!! I already got a Dewalt 12" 20V chainsaw & a recip saw to toy with the smaller stuff. Bought "tool only" as I already have Dewalt 20V power tools. A lil overkill but they're pretty liteweight.

I use one for removing grapevines doing TSI in my son’s woods. I have 4 batteries. I oil the chain every battery change. It is a lot easier than manual loppers and a gas chainsaw. When all the batteries are dead, it’s time to head to the house.
