I am interested in taking a buddy out for the first two days of opener. He is new to hunting and I usually have my tag filled during archery but I was unable to get off from work so I will be going out for rifle. He lives right outside of Harrisburg so there are a few options. Is state game land 211 any good? I was also looking at SGL 170 and possible SGL 264 or SGL 80. Any input would be appreciated.

I doubt you will get information of any value off of an internet forum.

No substitute for shoe leather, (and I know...we are all busy), but someone telling you any SGL is good or not is useless....

To try to answer your question, I hunt SGL 226 in Columbia County. I can tell you that it will be crowded and you may or may not see deer because of the high pressure that it receives. The PGC manages the habitat to have a healthy herd, but that is hard to do when this type of pressure hits any area. I doubt that any other SGL is going to be much different. Good luck!

SGL 211 is good if you get back in. It looks like a pumpkin patch near any of the parking lots but the abandoned RR bed lets you get back in. Esp. with a mountain bike.
What Moose said is right on the money. There are some big deer way back in,too.Since you haven't been there, try google earth and start from there.good luck.
