Hello.
trying to clarify a issue that I once came across. Archery safety zones are 50 yards from occupied dwellings. Etc.
my question is. If I’m on a said property line where is the 50 yards measured at. Is it from edge of property line directly to the home, building, warehouse etc. or 50 yards from the property line out from property edge.

Thnx

I was told by a game warden when I asked about hunting a property that the land owner wanted some geese shot that you treat the occupiable dwelling like it is in the center of a snow globe and the outer shell is the edge of the boundary either 50 yds for archery or 150 yds for firearms. He did say nothing can land inside or passthrough the "snow globe".

If you have OnX maps you can drop a pin on the dwelling and set a waypoint radius and that gives you a safety boundary.

ONX does not give you the "snow globe" distance. But if you use ONX, you will always be on the "safer" side because it will provide a longer distance than not needed legal purposes.

Also, I believe that shot from a gun can not travel into a safety zone, even if it does not hit an occupied building? Like if you're shooting into the air at geese, doves, etc.. I think the same would hold true for an arrow. Though you'll be less likely to be shooting into the air. Someone correct me if this is not true.

I don't know about the "above" an occupied structure. I'd never take that kind of shot. Since you have to be 150yards above said structure, then 150yds to the left and another 150yds to the right (yes....300yds isn't an incredibly long shot)....then you have to walk outside the 150yd zone to either retrieve the animal...or track the animal....providing you can find the spot where you hit after all that walking.

And if the homeowner happen to be outside and heard the bullet whizzing overhead. (I've heard that before....it's not a comforting sound). Its likely "you got some 'splaining to do"

Sounds like a lot of effort. I'd setup somewhere else.
