I never used to use them, I used to gut 20 or 30 deer a year when I was still in the field. I am not worried about getting bloody, in fact on a real cold day, hands in the body cavity of a deer feels good. However, I have RA and I take a once a week injection that lowers my immune system so I figured it would be stupid not to use them now.

Yes, use latex gloves when field dressing all game. Long gloves for deer. They are small/easy to carry. I carry a cleaning kit consisting of the gloves, hand wipes, cheese cloth, a couple of paper towels, game tag, zip tie, pen in a zip lock bag. When I complete the cleaning task I put all the debris in the zip lock bag and dispose of it in the weekly trash pick up.

I do not use them when cutting up game.

Never used to but with the advent of CWD and now EHD, no reason to take any chances with the unknowns and, it makes for easier cleanup.

Never used to until I gutted one and ended up getting blood all over my ham sandwich.
Some of the gutting gloves I have bought ended up getting ripped just putting them on. I use medical latex gloves now.

I work in a deer processing shop and I've never worn gloves. Yes, I did find a broadhead one year. That hurt, but gloves wouldn't have done a thing. Try imagining what your hands would smell like after 50-60 rutted up bucks. That's a stink that doesn't come out for a month.

I tried them once. I felt that I didn't have as good of a grip on my knife, so that was the only time. I usually just strip down to a t-shirt and get right in there.

Yep, the long shoulder length plastic ones with rubber surgical gloves over them for a better grip.
I do the same but never put the latex over the plastic. That's a good idea. I didn't wear them when I was younger. Now my hands get dry and cracked in the winter, due to work, even when I do my best to take care of them.

I use them, just for cleanup aspect. I can do a field dressing job without getting blood above my wrists, so the cheap-o nitrile gloves from Walmart do just fine. Peel 'em off inside out to bring back without a mess, and I don't have deer blood all over my hands to get all over anything I touch from there to when I can wash.

I'm an RN, So I have access to all the blue nitrile gloves i'll ever need. I keep 2-3 pairs in my pack in a ziplock with an extra pocket knife, paper towels, about 8ft of rope, a couple zip ties, bandaids, antiseptic wipes, 4x4 gauze and a roll of gauze kling. Im very meticulous with not getting blood on me or my hunting clothes. Not because i think its gross, I'm just OCD about being neat and clean.

I always put the latex gloves on over the plastic. I seem to have developed an allergy to latex, which makes my hands itch so they always go one over the plastic. As was said, helps keep the plastic gloves on plus helps with control of the knife.

Always, shoulder length with medical gloves over top.................

every deer I have shot have fallen within a couple hundred yards of a creek, pond or dam. There is always water nearby.

I just gut them out, drag them on over to the water source, wash my grubby paws and then splash some water into the cavity to clean it out somewhat.

Me and the critter both come out pretty clean. As a carpenter, I use the nitrile gloves when staining. That stuff don't wash off....has to wear off. Deer blood does wash off and I honestly don't mind the smell.

Back in my days, Was never thought of. ' old school ' real hunters don't use them, Just gut the deer, clean your hands with snow and leafs,Put a pinch a stuff in your cheek and gum and start dragging! A clothes-pin on your nose does help with the smell. just kidding to each there own.

Never. I always thought it odd watching Newfie guides using them when we gutted moose. They certainly weren’t fussy about anything else.

Always, makes it a lot easier when cleaning my hands afterwards.
