What are you guys doing to get ready for the season. Built a box for the ATV rear rack yesterday. Was going to buy one but decided to use scrap wood from around the property. Traps are dyed and waxed. Waxed sand is done. Have some drags coming today to used on canine sets on public land to allow the critters to get off the two track and into the brush. Need to clean up the shed but everything I start I get going on another project and mess the shed up more.

Everything is pretty much ready. All the beaver gear has been dipped in Speed Black. All the canine gear has been gone over, waxed and ready to go. Got 30 gallons of waxed sand, a little light on waxed dirt.

I’ll get another late start trapping. Leaving for moose hunting on November 1st, so I won’t trap before then. When I get back, I’ll be fall turkey hunting. Then it’s bear and deer season. I didn’t set last year until fisher and beaver season started. Probably do the same this season. By the time I’m ready to trap, you’re dealing with frozen ground.

Where will you be moose hunting? That is on my bucket list for sure.

I probably won't start setting until mid Nov. There's a guy on YouTube from Altoona area I believe. He shows his catches and fur put up. Once I see that his coons and canines are no longer blue, I set.

I'm cutting screen pan covers.
I have plenty of traps boiled and waxed. Have a couple dozen to treat yet.
All my permission on private property is granted.
All in all, I could set a line today.

Hey ADK, it's a good idea to boil off oil on chain & drag then wax (drag & chain). Just saying...
Reason being, to prevent rust. And you are not carrying rusty equipment. Been there.

Thanks Hern. Drags are used so there won't be any oil on them. Same for the chain. I painted traps in rustoleum/acetone this year then dipped in Zepp. Will do the same to the drags and chain.
