I’ve been saying it for years; eliminate the federal funding and the CWD hysteria goes away. Years ago I was one of the first in the industry to discourage hunters from reporting sick deer because of the government’s response to it. I coined the term “deer Covid” because of the way the government overreacted to CWD the same way it overreacted to Covid. Most of the time the government isn’t the solution, it’s the problem. That is certainly true with CWD. Let nature run its course and the deer that are resistant will survive and pass on their immunity. That’s sure a better option than spending billions of taxpayer dollars on sharpshooters to kill healthy deer. Before you report a sick deer just remember what will happen to your hunting if that deer tests positive for CWD.
I don’t think that building an immunity is a thing. This isn’t a virus and it’s not a living organism it’s a strand of molecules arraigned in a certain way. But who knows.
