anybody know how much lye to add for about 10 gallon of water ? and how long should i boil

A can. 1/3 of a can. 3 tablespoons. None. Boil Hard. Never Boil. Will boil your skin off.

For what it is worth, I have boiled lye hard, and never had any adverse reactions etc........just be careful with it, and you will be fine......

Used to boil traps in lye years ago. Now, I just use natural materials, walnuts hulls or sumac pods, etc.

For new traps, you'll want to remove the oils first with dish soap or some kind of degreaser.
No need to rust them unless you just want them to blend in better-they'll rust soon enough after the first coon catch.
