Well first off not everybody fishes the same, as for salt vs fresh water etc.
This video is a good one, and no doubt what he shows works well for him in his environment, that being salt water.
Notice he started by doubling the main line, and the knot was actually a variation of an Alberto connecting the leader to that.
At least he impressed me by using a good but very basic method of creating the double line, and not showing off by tying a Bimini twist. lol
Many salt water anglers start with a double line regardless of line type, and attach a leader to that.
Fresh water fish aren't salt water fish, and a double line wouldn't be necessary at least in my opinion.
So those knots where a direct connection without a double line would be best used.

Here's another that is fairly easy to tie. I have no experience with it but will give it a try. FT

For me at least its easier than the Alberto. I believe it might also be called the Bubba Carter knot in some places.
Ive not tried making a mono/braid connection with it however.
I'm probably too old and set to be using braid anyway, mainly due to the knot issues.
I find that even with small diameter lines like 2# mono, by doubling a short section with an easy knot like a 2 or even 3 turn Surgeons knot, then attaching a leader with a Yucatan knot to be a strong yet small connection.
