Anyone have any information about a API grand slam, GS 2500 magnum? Found one at a yard sale for a give away price. I looked it over very good, all welds solid. I plan on replacing both chains, and adding third hand stabilizer straps. I’d like to know the specifics of it, weight limit especially. Solid looking stand, lighter then my loggy bayou’s

I am familiar with api stands. It has the chain? If so, the chains were recalled do to rust issues. The chain should be coated in a clear plastic. API makes a good product. The new tree straps have an aluminum block on the ends.
For all the other info you can google the exact model and they will tell you anything and everything about that particular stand. Good luck !

Excellent stand. Very stable and secure. I have been using the exact stand for probably 20 years.
My only complaint is that the plastic coating pulls up and it gets hung up while adjusting.
Edit to add: you won’t need the extra strap.

I gave it a good cleaning this morning, checked all the welds, all looked good, stripped the shrink wrap off the chains, they look like new. I’ll clean the chains and resrinkwrap them. It has the nylon strap riveted to the stand for your toes, I’ll give that a try or put a set of stirrups on it.

I bought an API used almost 25 years ago, and still use it frequently. Pretty sure it's the Grand Slam model. I did replace the chains about 15 years ago, and the replacement set still looks new, compared to the original set which were beat pretty good. At my heaviest, I was over 340lbs, and fully dressed with a full pack would have been considerably heavier. I never had any distrust in that stand even then... it's always been rock solid and comfortable. If I had to nitpick, it's almost impossible to get into a tree quietly with it. One of these days I may pour some expanding foam into the rails to see if it quiets it down some.

As an aside, I did order the wrong set of chains initially, and the return window had closed till I pulled them out of the box to put them on the stand, so they're still residing in my basement. They might fit yours, and I'd cut you a pretty decent deal on them if you're interested and we can confirm fit.
