VERY poor in the sections of 4D and 4C that I checked. Big mountains, farm land, and small suburban areas all have very few.

I would say almost a bumper year for chestnut oaks down my way. Reds are pretty good. Not really noticing whites.

My black oaks are dying at a pretty quick rate in the last few years which is really unfortunate.

If you have no white oak acorns it is usually a result of frost during the 2025 spring. But, red oak acorns are set from the previous year's spring conditions. That means if you had a frost in the spring of 2024 you probably will not have red oak acorns in the fall of 2025.

In our area we had some late frost this year. But it didn't affect all area and elevations. So we do have a few white and chestnut oak, a member of the white oak family, acorns in some places this fall. We had pretty favorable weather without frost in most local areas during the 2024 spring, so we have red oak acorns in more areas this fall.

The late frosts this spring probably means no red acorns next fall though.

2B, Eastern/Southern side, lots of big, fat reds up high in the trees still and chestnuts seem decent, on the 3 different properties I have scouted on. In the one spot, private, but open to anyone who asks, of course, the best grouping of chestnut trees had a stand and a cell cam set up nearby. Day late and dollar short...story of my life. Hopefully the hunter gets a big one there! Same hillside, farther up and farther south....two big, fresh scrapes and a couple oak trees scattered near by. This would be over 200 yds away from this persons stand so I may be checking it out for a few early hunts.

My area of 4C, upper Dauphin lower Schuykill, has no acorns this year that I've seen. Haven't been out a lot but was out hiking the mountains this past Sunday specifically keeping an eye for acorns.. Didn't see a one, perhaps the huge deer herds are eating them as soon as they hit the ground?

I'd agree with Byron and Bowhunter. The areas in 4C I hunt are pitiful. Even near my parents in west central 5B, the acorns are dismal. Definitely not like it was last year, or what others are seeming to have. It may, or rather will make for more challenging hunting season for me and others.

1A reds look good, whites so so. Just got back from 2G it was spotty at best for both red & white. Lots of trees were barren. None were loaded in the area I hiked this morning.
