The dog woke me up a bit ago and I couldn’t doze back off. I am off today and tomorrow. Getting ready to take my dad out this am. We have a blind set up on an apple orchard that still has some fruit left on it. Sitting the blind in case any lingering rain rolls through. This afternoon we are heading back to our spot where Carson got his buck on Sunday. Good luck folks.

I will try this evening on a easy to access field corner. My cameras are DEAD...but i am sure they miss a ton. Its funny how influenced you can get by camera activity. When you dont love sitting out there its easy to say cameras are dead ill stay home.

As expected...had a new shooter show up at 945 this morning behind the front.

This evening should be hopping. I have a little bit of undesired disturbance in the area...Hopefully it doesnt mess things up. Will be a great inventory day on the cameras since im across the state and can't hunt.

We had our first bust of the season this morning. No deer sighted at all. When it got light out we saw that since our last check of this spot, all the rest of the apples have fallen and been cleaned up. Mildly surprised we didn’t see anything on the hill above us either. A skunker is a pretty infrequent event at that spot.
Headed back out this afternoon after I get Carson off the bus. Pretty optimistic about seeing good numbers. I’m sitting in a stand where I’ve gotten shooting several times over the past few years. First sit there this season.

Trail cams can be neat to see what’s in the general area over the summer but once the velvet is gone things change or appear too. It also happens near the time acorns become plentiful.

The woods are very open now. In the last couple of weeks the leaves dropped like crazy. It feels early. Probably the lack of rain

I agree with what is stated about the trailcam use. Part of the allure of them is i find actual hunting very nerve wracking. It is quite literally the only thing I do that causes me significant anxiety and stress. Running the cams is stress free.

8 does in a bean field and one small buck. For a while these does were running in circles. No idea what had em all riled up.
