Heading out in a bit. Have yet to see a deer while in stand, but hopeful.

Saw deer moving quite a bit yesterday while doing some volunteer work.

Hoping the tide has changed.

All showered up and making my cup of coffee for the ride to suburbia to sit in a blind in a 1/3 acre clearing that was just logged by the landowners house. I should have a nice view of their driveway, garage and basketball hoop.

I'm up bright and early this morning, but need to get my teenager tohis high school cross country race so no deer catchin' for me.

All set up. Sitting a corner outside edge of an area that was clearcut last year. Scouted it during rifle and marked some spots to try out this year. Really an observation sit unless a fat doe gives me an easy shot. It’s a good mile in so I’m thinking I won’t have any neighbors like I did last Saturday.

 

@jmbear12 You will get your time as the rest of us eventually will too. Hopefully your patience on having to wait due to other committments will be worth it for you as the season progresses. Enjoy the apple harvest- I'm hoping to get there this weekend since I wasn't able to last weekend.

Go get em folks. I am at work until noon and then I am just going home to watch college football. I jacked up my left knee earlier this week and man is it sore and painful. Don't even know what I did. Feels like I might be laid up for a while................I'll be hunting through this thread it seems until this goes away.

 

I too am up bright n early ... to be at work. Getting off at noon, plan is to be in my treestand, with a new seat, by 3pm and to sit till dark. This plan is all dependent on the rain holding off. Days of sitting in a tree while it's raing are over, at least during archery season. Fingers crossed the rain holds off till after dark..

I only have a finite number of morning hunting in me these days and it better be easy access, bomb proof entry and easy setup. Ill wait a little bit til I make sure these evenings dont work out. I am just not really AWAKE til about 9.

 

Buck parade this morning. Of course they were all about 100 yards away, but man were they pretty in sun. 3 no doubt great bucks. A smaller maybe 6 point and a spike. Putting on a great show sparring and carrying on

One doe so far. Popped up behind me like a ninja. Was at 20 but couldn’t get turned around fast enough. Now she’s feeding away from me at 35, but I’ve got no shot.

 

Set up on a scrape. High on a ridge on public. I am fairly close to the lake. I guess goose/duck season opened this morning! What a wild time they are having down on the water! Easily have heard into the hundreds of shots. One lone doe came up the ridge so far. Good luck to everyone out today and to the duck hunters!

I love these kinds of days. Just so cool to watch.

 

Not hunting today as prior engagements are going on. Buddy shot a decent 8 this morning. Beat up a 5 pt he said and chased off a spike before presenting a shot.

 

3 doe before daylight nothing but squirrels and a skunk since then

 

4 more doe showed up and milling around at 80yds

 

Chipmunks.

 

3 doe a little before 7 but they got into my wind. Had to get down at 8 to go with my wife to Lancaster. Kicked up a doe and fawn on the walk back. Good luck to those still out.

 

Seen 3 doe currently have 2 little ones bedded 40yds away and had a little fork horn walk by at around 10-15 yds while taking this picture.

nothing seen. swear I can smell a buck, a few times over the course of the morning. Kinda thing I would typically post up on a few more hours but I have to get back. Just the morning today, .maybe tmrw. October is busy

 

Almost hit a dead deer someone nailed at some point in my lane driving to hunt. Nothing for me this morning but tree rats. COFFE break and lunch. Maybe some scouting. Fair amount of vehicles up rd from me as I drove for a coffee.

 

Slow morning for me. Saw one unknown at first light and that was it. Had to climb down early because I have to take my daughter to a birthday party.

I finally picked up a shooter buck on camera this week. Looks to be a 130s 9 point.

 

No work today! No football today! Im going to split firewood for a couple hours, then head for my first afternoon hunt since I shot my buck in WV. Movement won't be near as good as it was yesterday.
