We hunted yesterday morning for the youth rabbit hunt. I took my two younger cousin, and my older cousin anthony came along with his two dogs blossum, and timber. I took Lexy, Abby, and Holly.

My cousin's Andrew and Nick were the shooters and they sure did a good job. This is the begining of andrews second rabbit season with me, and nicks first year to hunt. We started out and the dogs had a rabbit up in 5 mins and it was non stop running from than on. We made them wait until the dogs circled the rabbit once before they shot. They ended up with 2 rabbits each after about an hour. And there was even some they didn't get shooting at either because they holed or didn't present a safe shot. After about 2 hours I decided to call it quits for that spot and we headed back to there house to get the dogs some water and clean the rabbits.

Here is Nick with his two rabbits in the tree.

Here we are.

After getting the rabbits cleaned up we headed back out to another spot. We ran 3 nick missed 1, andrew shot 1, and the last one we just let the dogs run because we figured we had enough to eat and wanted to make a good example with the kids that they didn't have to kill everyone that the dogs chased. They really enjoyed watching the last chase unfold. After that it was to hot and we headed back to there house again and found out my aunt was making the rabbits from earlier. I'm not sure what the recipe was but it was some of the best rabbit i've ever eatin, and we ended up eating all of it.

Andrew with #5.

Check out the archery section as well as andrew had some more success during his afternoon archery hunt.

I took andrew out again tonight to a gamelands. We put up four cock birds and a hen. 1 cock bird with the beagles, and than we took his boykin spaniel out and put up a hen. The other 2 cock birds were ones we saw walking on the path. He ended up missing 2 of the cock birds, and the others he couldn't get a shot at. But we still had a blast,, and can't wait to go out again.
