I don't mean a combination cartridge or an all around cartridge but one that is tailored to the whitetailed deer. For me it's the .243 Win, 6mm Rem, .250 Savage, .257 Roberts, and .260 Rem that fit my idea of a deer cartridge.

I place them into two categories:.....Woods guns and field guns since I have the luxury of hunting either type of terrain.......For my woods hunting I use the 358 Winchester, 45-70, 444 Marlin, or 350 Remington Magnum.

For my field shooting I use the 270, 7mm magnum, 8 mm Magnum, or 25-06.


If I were forced to forsake all of them and be resigned to just one, it would be my Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08.
