I would like to understand what I have been hearing and experiencing on my last couple of outings this archery season.
Two weeks ago I was late getting to my stand on top of the mountain on a Saturday morning when I noticed deer running towards me then 30 seconds later after they pass by me I heards a lone coyote with a couple of short barks then a yip. One sequence then all quiet.
Last night I was hunting a half mile away from that location (GPS verified) and I heard several dogs at dusk carry on for less than one minute. Can I assume that a den is located nearby? We have had some coyote on this mountain but I am hearing alot more vocals and may consider taking up yote hunting. I do have big yotes on one of my trail cameras about 3/4 mile away. Somebody shed a little bit of knowledge and tell me what is going on with the vocals of these yotes?

They are most vocal at the times you've been hearing them.
They are taking a head count/check in type of thing getting ready to go about their business.
