I'm ok with her shooting it or any other game animals for that matter. However, she posed with it like it was a fair chase hunt and then posted it on the Internet. If I shot an animal that was too sick to survive and near death, I think I'd just shoot it and be done with it. No pictures, no internet, no pride in doing that. Just my opinion.In response to the uproar over the photo, Francis sent an official statement to the website HuntingLife.com. She explained that she had shot the giraffe in the photograph five years ago after realizing it was too old and sick to survive in the wild.
“He had been kicked out of the herd by a younger and stronger bull,” Francis told the website. “He was past his breeding years and very close to death. They asked me if I would preserve this giraffe by providing all the locals with food and other means of survival. He was inevitably going to die soon and he could either be wasted or utilized by the local people. I chose to honor his life by providing others with his uses and I do not regret it for one second
