Some years ago I bought a Winchester 1300 with both smooth bore and rifled barrels. The intended use was primarily in MI for deer using the rifled barrel and also PA for spring turkey with the smooth bore.
I put a scope on it with less than exciting results. The scope mounts on the pre-drilled receiver. The barrel is simply a slip fit into the receiver.
My theory is that the barrel center line floats with respect to the center line of the receiver, thus any similarity between the line of sight of the scope and the center line of the barrel is purely consequential and temporary.
As a result the scope got taken off and I have been using it with only open sights.
Being a bit of a hard head--I want to fix this problem and get it to work with the scope. I have found complete barrels with cantilever mounts but no after market cantilever mount for the 1300.
So--my questions:
1. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
2. Does anyone have one with the scope mounted on the receiver that is accurate and repeatable?
3. Does anyone know of a cantilever mount for the factory barrel?
