I finally found a gun that was for sale, identical to the one my father gave my son.
1862, Colt Pocket Navy Revolver, 36 cal. very good condition.
Dad thought is was worth about $750.00
Turns out it was worth 5 times that amount.
I saw this one before at about that price, but couldn't believe it.
a good gun value book and the online gun auction sites are about the best way to get a feel for what people are paying for certain guns right now...tomorrow they could be bringing more...i watch a bunch of different sites and different auctions to get a feel for prices....
The way to get an idea is to watch the guns that have a bid on them don't pay any attention to the crazy priced ones that people just keep listing over and over
