I've been shooting powerbelts out of my inline and the last 2 deer I shot with it had the bullet fragment and tear the inside all to pieces and never exit. Any suggestions on why this is happening or what type of bullet I should try instead

if you like using pellets, get a box of 30gr pellets. Use One 50gr pellet and One 30gr pellet for a total of 80gr. The bullet will perform awesome with that charge.

If you looked through my post and the pages you'll find a bullet with an aerotip sticking through the bullet! When they are pushed to hard and the deer is close, the aerotip will push right through the bullet and will come apart easily. Slowing it down will put them on the ground and the bullet will hold up.

That is what you want the bullet to do! Have any of you guys had to chase these deer down? I love the power belts for just that reason they expend all of the energy inside the deer where it is supposed to be. I would rather dig a bullet out of a shoulder and have it laying where I shot it than have to chase it for 100 yards because the bullet just blew right through the deer.

I am a penetration fan and want both an entrance and an exit wound. I use the different Barnes bullets when I am hunting with the in-line. I shoot the TMZ bullet out of mine and the Expander out of my sons.

Agree with the above - 2 holes are better than 1 - let's more air in and more blood out.

I shoot 3 triple 7 pellets and a 300 gr. Hornady SST - a little overkill for a 100 pound doe, but it hits hard.

I had problem with lighter powebelts (245/295). Try 348(Aerotips) if you want to stay with them. They performed well for me in 1-28 twist in-lines.

The problem I had was there was no blood trail. I found the deer about 100 yards from where I shot and that was just by luck and going to where I thought it might be. I'd rather have an exit hole and blood trail. I mean I hit this thing right behind the shoulder and it blew up the guts my brother's deer did the same thing last year...very little to no blood at all, entrance right behind the shoulder and guts blown up. I just want to find something that won't do this.

i like to take low heart shots. the higher the shot is, the more time it takes for the blood to start to seep out. A deer can cover a lot of ground in no time.

Just lower your charge and you'll like the results. Maybe even switch to the hollow points.

I switched from the hollow point 295pbs to the 245 aerotips. My issue was a "little off" shoulder shot that must have pancaked on the shoulder blade. That was with 90g 3f 777. Lost a wall hanger buck on that one. The 245 aerotips have held together well, done good damage and exited. No complaints with them now.

hey i just thought of something. If the bullet had exploded the guts that bad, its very possible that the guts and stomach matter could have plugged the entrance hole. I once shot a deer right behind the shoulder and the bullets shock had actually sucked the stomach up into the chest cavity and the stomach came out of the entrance hole.

thats what happend to both deer. The guts plugged the entrance hole so we didn't have a blood trail.

I like to break shoulders and walk to where the deer was when I shot and just pick them up. Gut shots and chasing are not for me. Most of my shots are through and through but on occasion we will get some of the bullets back.

The vitals(heart, lungs)are in front of the diaphram. The guts are behind the diaphram. To plug an entrance hole would be a behind the vitals(gut shot)hit.Stomach and intestines can't get on the other side of the diaphram to plug a hit in the vitals.

thats not always true 410-er. i had put a shot on a small doe right behind the shoulder and it came out the front of the other shoulder ( 1/4 away shot) Her stomach was sucked into her chest cavity from the shock power of the bullet. Her stomach came about 4" out of the entrance hole. It was the craziest thing ive ever seen.

I have had the exact opposite happen with aerotips. On the 3 deer I have shot with them, the bullet has gone straight thru. The exit hole was no bigger than the entrance hole. I was using 100 gr. triple 7 with 245 gr aerotips. All 3 deer went a good ways before dropping and had no blood trails.

410-er I know where I shot and it was right behind the shoulder, like I said the bullet broke up and shreaded everything...including the diaphram.....this allowed the the guts and everything else go where they pleased. I started this post to see if anyone else had ever had this same problem and what they did about it. I really like the powerbelts....up until the last 2 deer shot, I never had an issue. Maybe I'll try the 80gr of powder instead of the 100gr and go from there.
