First I just want to start out by saying i married an amazing woman. Over the last few weeks i have been doing alot of research on the .17 rem fireball, where to get bullets, brass, etc. I planned on ordering one after christmas and after i put new tires on her car for winter. Last night, as i'm cruisining around the internet looking for fireball stuff, she informs me that she doesn't want to burst my bubble but remington discontinued the fireball, of course she was right, and i asked her how she knew that? Come to find out she had been searching all of our small local gunshops and online because she was going to surprise me with one for christmas! Man what a surprise that would have been, I'm still kicking myself for not jumping on the one Buckeroo just sold in the classifieds. So now my question is WHAT GUN TO GO WITH NOW, I PLAN ON RELOADING, the fireballs that are on gunbroker are out of my price range, I want to shoot fox and coyote, .17 hornet is not an option, watch the coyote hunting videos with it on youtube, 2 coyotes, one 30 yards one 300 yards but both ran considerably with no blood. I plan on making this a night hunting rifle, and i want to put them down right there. .204 rugers blow up fox, so i'm out of ideas, so if you have some lets hear them. And yes i did see the .17 rem in the classifieds but am kind of put off by the difficulty of finding that brass. Thanks

.223 - Lots of brass, bullets, powder available and can reload it down to 22 hornet speeds or go full power if long range shooting or deer hunting. I love my Savage Predator 223 with Accutrigger. I'm currently shooting 55 grain soft points at 2200 fps for fox/coyote and shot my buck the first day with a factory Federal 69 grain HP which dropped it within 20 yards with very minimal meat damage. The factory Federals are too fast for fox but will put 3 in one hole at 80 yards.

I just recently bought a 204 and after hearing of the damage they do from a couple guys on here i decided to use the hornady 45gr soft points, thursday morn i got my first red with it, actually first fox all year, and it did not do much damage at all... the fox was 75yard infront sitting watching my decoy and i shot it below the shoulder through the ribs, the exit hole was the size of a quarter and i was verry happy, they sell those bullets for rwloaders wich i plan to use after i get the dies for christmas, im only using a hand press. I read of guys shooting these through 5/8 thick steel at 150y and shooting deer and carabou with them to they must be very tough. i would rexomwnd the 204 with this load, it just punches through... i have no expiriences with any other load except target shooting. good luck
