One archery season in the mid to late 60's, I'd driven from western Montgomery Co., up the northeast extention, to hunt the Games Lands at Brady's Lake near Blakeslee. I spent the day still-hunting over several acres of this big chunk of property, and made my way back to the car as evening approached. That's when I discovered my car keys were no longer in my pants pocket, replaced by a key ring sized hole!

This was pre-cell phone days, and from the main road back to the lake is quite a hike. I shoved my bow and quiver under the car and threw some leaves under as well for concealment, and started the walk back toward Blakeslee, hoping to encounter anyone heading back toward Brady's Lake.

I noticed something was in the 6" inside hem my wife had sewn in the over-sized camo pants. It was bouncing off my leather boots with each step.

My keys had slipped through the hole in my pocket, and managed to find the only opening in the hemming job in either pant leg!

Good fortune has very little to do with monetary gain!

Luckily I never lost anything of great value. Lost a lisence once, but went back and found it. It took awhile, but it was the last place I looked. Ever notice it is always the last place you looked?

IT'S BECAUSE YOU FOUND IT AND STOPPED LOOKING!

....but....did you quit lookin once that happen? 'Cause if you kept lookin....maybe you shouldn't have pointy weapons or things that go bang. (The lost part is OK...I've done that before)

Actually I was with a friend when he took a spike in late muzzleloader season (the last year you could), and after he gutted the deer he put his knife on the ground to shake the rest of the stuff out. He didn't realize it, but he left it in the woods. By the time we realized what happened we had stopped for beers, and it had gotten dark. We went back the next day, but couldn't find it.

DaveT, If I actually found myself back then, it was probably and actually my twin brother safe and sound. Then I went off lookin for myself again! I've been cleared for pointy stuff and things that go bang BTW...

Reading all these posts it makes me think of how much stuff we leave out there in the woods. I had a great thing happen yesterday, and all of you who have lost treasured items will relate to it. I hunted in a lot of different places for turkey this past spring. At one point I lost my new Minox binoculars, a small version of the 10x25s, perfect for turkey hunting. Yesterday I was cleaning out the garage when I picked up my turkey vest and felt something heavy in the back pouch. There they were, my new binocs that were given to me by a good friend. I never told him I lost them, so now I don't. Nothing like finding that treasure long after the hunting season.
