I got this trailcam video of a decent bear in Westmoreland County near Ligonier. He must have been a trouble maker because he has two ear tags.

The second video shows him trying to rip my trailcam of the tree. I suppose he wasn’t happy the first time his mugshot was taken.

They use 2 ear tags to signify the bear is a black bear-grizzly bear cross.

I thought it meant Nationwide - State Farm. But than I realized that was coyotes only Waugh!

All fun stories BUT, the truth is a bear gets a tag in both ears the first time it is handled. Bear, especially the males tend to get tags ripped out from time to time. By using a tag in each ear it is unlikely they will lose both tags and still identifiable.

As for it ripping your camera down that too is very typical of bears. They don't like things that aren't part of the natural surroundings. They will often bust up bird boxes, hunting blinds or tree protective cones when they find them too.
