So now that I'm dabbling with building a flintlock and got my first custom....

Is there anything I need to check out in western PA? Or even within a few hours of the Pittsburgh area?

Not looking for shops that sell Tradions and TCs and Lyman's..shops that deal in custom guns..builders the love visitors..events..classes..clubs...anything along those lines that may be worthwhile for a new wannabe builder??

Gotta admit I love building and doubt I buy another custom..but maybe there are suppliers or shops in PA that I don't know of..many of them aren't online..like Tip Curtis in TN...he is supposed to have a ton of stuff..but not online...

Itd be awesome to buy stuff from a shop instead of online...

Classes and clubs etc might be hard because I have a goofy inconsistent schedule...

Forest Grove Blackpowder Riflemen shoot monthly 3rd Sunday!! 11:00 am till 4pm. There are also couple antique/contemporary gun shows around each year. Harmony pa, Bushy Run, KRA Cranberry twp., old Bedford Village. as for classes CCAC has one in the south hills and Wildwood Group in Hampton has a longrifle Group of builders. they also do events at the Depreciation Land Museum in Allison Park
Awesome!!! Appreciate the reply! I will look into it!
Highly recommend making the track to dixons for their gun makers fair this summer. Allen Martin usually does a very good talk or two about building a "schimal" or poor boy style gun. All of the builders are more than willing to answer questions and give advice. It is an awesome experience.
Cooperstown Trading Post up by Wexford. They have a website but only accept cash in the shop. They have just about everything that you could ever need or want when it comes to flintlocks and the traditional hunter. I could spend hours in that place.
Thanx guys!!

Goalscorer, that sounds s worth the drive! As do many of the events and such...maybe I will be off and can make the trip!

Jaron, that's great to know!! That's literally "down the road" and I never knew about it!! I will probably be there Monday! Lol. Itd be nice to "take an inventory" so I know what I can get there opposed to ordering it..hate when i need some small and can't find it local...that means playing an order somewhere..then I have to pay a crazy shipping fee so I end up ordering all kinds of stuff I don't necessarily NEED lol...
Dixon's is a good ride!!! 4 1/2 hours from PGH. But well worth the trip. Last full weekend in July is the Fair...Cooperstown is closed on Thursdays and Sundays..He has strange hours. open in the am. closed for couple hours then open again in evening!! call ahead.
Two years in a row, something's happened that's kept me from making it to Allen's seminar. I'm gonna try like Hades to avoid letting it turn into 3 in a row.....
Cooperstown Trading Post is in Valencia, not Wexford. A little more of a drive.
Call before you go. His hours start to get strange in the summer.
Cooperstown Trading Post/ Gene is the Owner/operator. He does rendezvous and shows. His Phone # is 724-898-3146 or www.Cooperstowntradingpost.com
Stopped in Cooperstown today...nice guy and does have stuff that you can't find anywhere else locally that I know of...

Left with flints for the Fowler...and advice on how to make mount my lock on my current build..
Morris muzzle loader in grove city is an alright shop. They have the usual muzzle loader supplies but usually have a few semi custom guns on the rack.
I haven't stopped in Morris shop yet...i drive right by every day...

I will have to stop in and see what they have someday...
