I agree after talking to some of the Cease Fire supports at the Capitol building yesterday they know nothing about guns except what they see on the evening news. We need to step up and help educate those that don't understand where we are coming from as gun owners, hunters, and shooting sports enthusiasts. The NRA does a good job of lobbying Congress however we need to reach out to people in a friendly way to educate them. Maybe we should all invite someone to go shooting that has never shot a gun before. Introduce them to gun safety rules and the different aspects of shooting.
This battle will be won with talking to your neighbors , friends, and co-workers. The one on one individual communication and education will change minds.
Conversational talks over the issues and being able to prove your points will be key. Yet again, most of the media lies about guns can be defeated by providing news releases and other general data from official government web sites.
There is no gun show loophole. it is the law.
The AWB didn't work - several government sites and the testimony and statistics are available that say just that.
CCW decreases crime - lots of studies support that.
The background checks are law - not an option, and new laws will not make laws being broken by local and state governments work better.
The list goes on and on.
Engaging in conversation will open the issue up. Answering the media talking points with real facts - you make the pitch and provide the data. Most will at least start reading. But without dialog - our road is far longer.
