I fished the Potomac River in Washington, DC... The tidal section of this river is famous for its largemouth bass fishery. The upper river is famous for its smallmouth bass fishery. However, fishing for smallmouth within view of the monuments is pretty awesome! We were targeting mostly smallies, but caught 1 largemouth and a handful of channel cats including a 14 pound pig. You can also catch stripers, walleye among other species...

If you have never made the trip south from PA to fish the Potomac River, I highly recommend it! It is an amazing fishery... Best thing about it is, a DC fishing license is only $13 for a non resident!
