Starting last year i noticed that any shot past 20 had me seeing blurry pins. So after doing a bunch of research it appears that i need to verifier to help out with my over 40 eyes. But the one thing that i came across and was not able to find anything else on was the effect of the verifier for someone with glasses. Specialty Archery Products who make these noted in their website that using the verifier with glasses may not work. Does anyone else use a verifier with glasses?

My dealer has a test thingie with all the verifiers in it, 1 thru 9 i believe. I took it outside to try and see which one worked best, holding it in one hand and a sight in the other.

Mebey you can find a dealer with one of these and try it out?

When I shot a scope with magnification for 3-d comp. with my glasses I used a Super Peep with clarifier lens. Without the clarifier my fiber would be blurry and the target clear and with the lens the fiber optic is clear but target is a bit blurry?

treed74 I had the same thing and I have tried all the different clarifiers and varifiers and ran into the same problems as mentioned above. with the one the pins are clear and the target blurry and with the other the target was clear but the pins were blurry ! So I wound up getting new glasses with bifolcles and did away with the clarifier and varifier. Although I never used a scope cover with either one !

Well I'm headed to Lancaster Archery for the day to get my new strings on and the bow tuned up before turkey season. I will ask those guys what i should do. Personally for shooting my bow, i would sooner have my pins clear. I can hold a clear pin in the center of somewhat fuzzy target. I guess i'll have to see, literally.

For me I like my target clear because that's what I focus on. For indoors I shoot with a 3X lens in my sight scope and wear just distance glasses. For hunting I just wear my glasses with no other optics. My pin is a little fuzzy but have learned to except that and focus on a clear target and subconsciously know my pin is there. If I concentrate on my single pin it gets blurry and will halo or even get double vision. I see a lot of people in my indoor league that struggle with seeing their pin and pin float and it turns into a battle each shot to control their pin. It's amazing how much tighter your groups will be when you only concentrate on the target, except that your pin is going to float and some days worse than others and just allow the shot to happen while your mind only focuses on the target.

PA Bone, when i shoot handguns and open sightt rifles i'm all about fuzzying out the sights once aligned and concentrate on target. An i'd be ok with shooting my bow like that but my pins get really blurry from 30 out and it really is hard to say where is the pin in that blurry mess. I tried but was so inconsistent at shots 35 and beyond, which mentally worked on me. I hate the inconsistencies with bow shooting. I've worked on shooting with both eyes open and i'm good till 20 but after that it is

Treed have you thought about maybe trying a single pin for hunting. As bad as my eyes are now a multipin for me would really get blurry. I like a .010 single pin because they appear bigger when you consider the halo effect you have because of how bright they are and .010 is a lot better for longer ranges. There is a learning curve when you make the switch, but once you get used to the clearer field of vision without all the pins in the way it would be hard to go back to a multipin.

PA bone, my first pin i use for shots to 35, it is sighted in for 25, my setup has my 1" high at 10 and 1" low at 35. So my normal practice is just one pin. Next pin is 40 but is set well below the first one that it is not an issue anot even in the sight picture on most shots. Shooting in the basement at 10 all clear, 20 has a small halo, 30 is halo and slight blur, and then 40 is halo and blur. 50 is a no go right now. Pins are .10. But i have not considered a single pin. I guess if the verifier doesn't work i may have to look into that option.

The other thought i has and have not messed with is trying a different mounting for the sight. I have 3 possible distances and I'm currently in the middle. Of course this provide the beast sight picture with my peep. But maybe if i try a different distance and change the peep size this may help.

I'll be honest, i love to tinker and try new things with the bow, but I'm not really excited about this tinkering that lies ahead.

So i took Friday off and hit Lancaster Archery. They put my new string on and tuned her up. I also got the verifier put in. What a difference, pins are clear and crisp at all distances. The target, is not 100% clear and crisp but even at 40 yards the the the lines and edges are identifiable. A 1 inch black dot in a 4 inch yellow circle is easily identifiable. Very happy and very glad this worked. Its nice not seeing two dots or a blur while shooting. Got enough time to retune before the opener Saturday.

All depends what prescription your glasses or contacs are. I have been shooting with a verifier for quite a few years and it works great. You will need to use the proper verifier.
