a thread in the bear hunting forum got me thinking. with 6+ tags to fill this year, i COULD find myself with a good bit of deer tallow to do something with. Does it have any good uses? Do you have to render it first before you can use it for anything beneficial?

rendered bear lard makes good pie crusts, as far as deer, maybe mixed with wax for candles but it isn't fit to eat.

i should have posted that link instead of reading it LOL. I know a couple trad bow hunters who use sinew all the time. I know now how to get him my back strap sinew easily, and it seems a little less wasteful of meat than the way I do it now.
