The Power 5 looking at spring football.

If I am Trevor Lawrence's parents, no son, you are not playing for Clemson in March. Save it for your 1st round draft pick contract.

These big universities know they are in it deep. Tens of thousands students to show up soon. The idea of "social distancing" in that setting is delusional.

They are going to really take a financial hit.

I think The End of the NCAA as we knew it.

Big Ten is out....I expect the rest of the Power 5 will be soon to follow.

No PSU football this fall.....:cautious:

Iowa and Nebraska only 2 out of 14 to vote in favor of playing.

BIG 10 just canceled Fall season. IMO a prudent decision putting health ahead of sports money!!! If America continues on with its cavalier attitude re C19....likely Spring will also be nixed. Hard to correct stupidity but C19 eventually will one way or another.

Respectfully disagree.
Gross overreaction to an over hyped virus that has as little impact on the players, students and staff as a seasonal flu.

They caved to the Karen’s of the world.
Spring sports will happen, even a contested election will be over by then, and so will all talk of Kung flu.

First, it is about money. The concern is liability if a player gets that enlarged heart condition that is caused by different viruses.

Second, why stop things like swimming, etc, that do not involve contact? Uh, they don't sell tickets.

Third, all these universities are charging full room, board, and tuition for what will be a great deal of online learning. So your PSU or UCLA degree is another Phoenix or Southern New Hampshire.

You havev 40,000+ students on campus. What are your chances of getting covid in that stew? Now, add football or soccer and how much do your chances go up? Far more at risk just going to class. In fact a case can be made that had the seasons gone on, players would be safer as they would have been tested frequently and had a reason to social distance, so their season is not wrecked. Not now. The par-tay is ON this fall.

America has proven football is a fall sport. You will have every player with pro aspirations opting out, and only alumni will watch on TV.

I don't have the right answer. But a move to spring instead of just cancelling it is about one thing - trying to get some of that money

Wouldnt they also be close together in the locker room? When they travel? Its not just about contact

Do you think the jockstraps would have actually gone to classes? They would have been housed in special units and "learned" online.

Why not all students, is there something special about jockstraps that are already getting a free eduction?

We are seeing the beginning of the end of the USA and the dollar!!!
Just wait til the effects of the BILLIONS of dollars not being generated by psu home football games in the center region of the state. No restaurant, hotel, gas, beer, food, snacks. You name it.
I heard lots of worries and complaint about a Saturday start to rifle season and it’s affects on the economy and local businesses. Well times this by the millions!!!!
We are locking down the country over a virus that really only affects elderly and compromised people!!! The flu with a vaccine has a higher death rate.
Also how come the Dems can sit in a packed church no masks and we have no outbreaks. Really I haven’t heard of one prominent Democrat getting it.hmm
If you think 2020 is bad wait til the affects of shutting down the USA and the trillions of dollars lost becomes real!!! Our governments not getting money! our water and sewage treatment systems out of money.
They are trying to force us into a big reset. With an overhyped virus. They have already succeeded, it just didn’t become reality yet!!

"Overhyped virus"??? Guess 170,000 ever increasing American Covid deaths in a 4 months will miraculously return to life. "Underhyped Virus" is more reality plus reason why this pandemic is still totally out of control wrecking America.

its the fault of the people for not taking precautions. the officials have put the info out there. anyone following the virus news knows how many have died. they just think they will be one of the asymptomatic ones or the ones that will get a headache and move on.
the info has been put there, its up to the people to use it.
around here its the 16503 (inner city) zip code thats raising our numbers, they even went door to door handing out masks and brochures full of info....didnt help. cant blame the politicians for that !!

Just curious if you have testing counts/rates by zip code to support that it’s a single zip code being the hot zone for transmission. Or could it be a case of “that’s where the highest number of tests are done”?
And since the death and hospitalization rates are low and flat, despite rising total “cases”, it kinda lends credence to the thought that most will be asymptomatic or just get the headache.

We’ve been effectively locked down now for 5 months, despite being told at the outset that we could “flatten the curve” and go back to normal after a few weeks.
All the numbers show the much feared
Curve is flat and has been since May.
Hospitalizations are extremely low and flat, the death rates are extremely low and flat. We’re testing more now, using both PRC and antibody tests, can’t get a clear count between the two though, as the powers that be have decided to sum them to pump up their “cases” and “positivity rate” figures to justify keeping a knee on the neck of liberty and economy (yeah, I went there.)
And I’m not talking just about PA.
It’s clearly a coordinated effort to increase the “misery index”, all in hopes of steering the outcome of an election.

The left thought “Russian Collusion” was the biggest threat to freedom and election integrity, yet they’re currently involved in the orchestration, coordination, and execution of the biggest propaganda, misinformation, conspiracy campaign ever devised.

i think its as easy to catch as the flu, but a lot more aggressive and dangerous than the flu. i also believe the numbers are inflated and this includes those who allegedly died from the virus.

people in nursing homes that have covid and die from their current medical condition before they had covid are counted as a covid death. same as other deaths. some quick tests have come back positive only to have the second test longer test come back negative and not even show any anti bodies. they dont go back and change that number and each positive test is counted as a seperate positive. if a person is positive and gets tested evry so often until they are clear...each time they test positive gets counted AGAIN.

these numbers are clearly inflated.

as far as testing by zip code they dont include that figure, just how many cases per zip code.

Not sure about "jockstraps" being special or not, just repeating what was reported about the testing protocols. Call PSU and ask them.

Travel? Locker rooms? As an increased covid risk? Thats funny. Its college. Party central.

Beer funnel sales must be going through the roof around campus's that are open. What a convenient way to drink beer with minimal shifting of the mask. No house funnel in times of covid hygiene protocol, everybody must bring their own. Campus bookstores must be makin' a mint on funnel sales.

Considering the sheer volume of the world’s oldest disinfectant flowing, college campuses may very well be the safest environment from Covid on the planet.
