Years ago in another state a buddy and I set turtle lines every year, caught several, kept them in a root cellar and fed them vegetables and scrapes we got from grocery stores then prepared them for our Fourth of July Parties.

My buddy's dad was a navy cook, added his highly secret ingredients to the turtle soup, cooked them in a huge pot and stirred the simmering spicy mouth watering soup with a canoe oar used only for the special day.

We would have 50-70 people at the 4th cook outs standing in line for their bowl of soup and then seconds. The number of partiers increased every year and the soup got better and better....

Rain is killing me. Got a few small ones. Turned them loose. That was fun. Have to wait till the ponds clear and go down some.
