On Thursday I got this male while turkey hunting. It was pretty intense I wasn't hearing much so I was just sitting back taking it all in floating out some yelps every 10 min or so. To my left was some pretty thick green briars I kept hearing something in there moving around but couldn't pick anything out I heard something to my right and turned my head to look and just as I started to turn my head back to the left I seen him charging in, the look in his eyes as I brought the gun up is something I'll never forget at this point he was 3 feet away from me, his eyes got as big as saucers and he cut to the left I shot him at 5 yds and he ran another 10 foot and fell over. When I walked over the wad from the shell was sticking out of his shoulder. Was my first shotgunned coyote and first one I shot at 5 yds.

Yes sir it was there's no doubt in my mind if I wouldn't have turned my head back around when I did it probably would have jumped on me thinking I was a turkey. But boy did he get a surprise.

Great story and a fine looking dog you got there. I'd say this is better than turkey hunting; though the yote will taste not as good as a bird.

No hern but I'd imagine if I was calling turkeys and he came in like the way he did I'd say he was looking for a turkey dinner. Just my opinion heck who knows maybe he never ate turkey a day in his life was more or less just looking for a title.
