TURKEY HUNTERS REMINDED TO SEND IN HARVEST REPORTS

With Pennsylvania’s spring turkey season now closed, the Pennsylvania Game Commission is reminding hunters to report all turkey harvests.

Successful hunters are required by law to report turkey harvests to the Game Commission within 10 days. Successful mentored hunters must report within five days. And special spring turkey license holders – those who purchased a second tag before the season – are required to file reports on their hunting success whether or not they harvested a second turkey. All reporting closes Tuesday, June 9.

Reports may be submitted online at www.pgc.pa.gov, phoned in to 1-855-PAHUNT1, or sent by mail by filling out the postage paid post cards found in the Pennsylvania Hunting & Trapping Digest. Mailed report cards must be postmarked by June 9.

The monthlong spring turkey season closed May 30. All hunters who harvested turkeys during the season, but haven’t yet made a report, are asked to do so by the reporting deadline.

It boggles my mind one can't do a negative report for the first tag (reporting you hunted but didn't get one). Unless I'm an idiot, that option is only available for the second tag.

I am not one to criticize the harvest stats by any means. I am a bit of a data nerd and have a pretty good handle on statistical concepts. But with the online reporting there is so much valuable data available for harvest that they leave on the table.

I did the online deal for my birds and was kind of surprised they want all that data. Hopefully it will help them manage the resource.

Got my card over 2 weeks ago. Maybe I'm dense but I don't get reporting on the 2nd tag only and even if you don't kill ( corn is for harvesting). Wouldn't it stand to reason like with other tags if I didn't shoot one (I also don't shoot corn) I didn't report not killing it? Duh.
Yes I did report not killing on my second tag, but I didn't kill one on my 1st either. Maybe it's the new math.
